Tucked inside a secluded yet imposing rocky landscape, there stands a white-washed two-storey buikding hosting two independent residences that seem to spring from the stone. Composed by assymetrical yet harmonically interconnected forms and levels, these two residences attain a combination of both privacy and openness. Thanks to their location as well as to the road access towards it, thay may function as either solitary refuges or shared vacation homes. A shared courtyard running through the two buildings, with a spacious swimming pool located in front of the two main entrances and a utilisable space that allows the development of common activities among the residents-barbeque, oven, open lounge where one could gaze the horizon-, functions as a unifying factor for the two residences. The structure of this complex projects simplified -with a sense of minimalistic- architectural elements that infuse a sense of lightness, letting the surrounding scenery prevail almost unaffected by man's intervention, proving that simplicity itself may in fact procure abundance and sophistication. This archaic richness is enhanced by the façade's unobstructed view to the northeastern coast -where the city of Andros and the beach of Lidi are located-, as well as towards the open sea

Just outside the village of Chora, amidst the imposing rawness of the hills, there stands a complex of two separate residences which were purposefully connected in an organic manner, so as to share in the benefits of the surrounding nature. The approach here, stived to fuse the traditional local construction methology (including the typical cycladic colouring and the flat roofs that merge harmonically into the landscape) with a contemporary twist, so as to achieve maximum coherence withminimum intervention in the natural scenery. Both houses are typologically characterised by two levels, with all common areas -living room, kitchen, bathroom- settled in the groundfloor, whilst the first floor functions as a more private space, hosting the bedroom and an additional bathroom. Despite the fact that the first floor of both buildings is more private by nature, neither of the bedrooms is deprived of the openess that the groundfloors enjoy, as they are surrounded by interconnected balconies which offer spectacular view of the sunrise and the sunset. The unobstructed view to the sea and the village of Chora is enhanced by the amphitheatrical arrangement, as well as the obtuse angles of both buildings. The two homes are surrounded perimetrically by an extended courtyard, extended over two levels which include a swimming pool and a barbeque area, while providing enough space to create an exterior lounge. Although the aforementioned residences could risk to be considered as isolated due to them being positioned outside of the official settlement, they arein fact located in the most ideal of spots for a person who desires to settle in a self-contained resort,while at the same time enjoying an easy and quixk access to the sea and the neighbouring village - the houses are located 2,5km from Chora and less than 500m from Lidi beach, in the northeast.

Having been entrusted with the recreation of an old, crumbling and dilapidated stone-wall building, which bore obvious signs of time, we desired to reconstruct and renovate the pre-existing structure, whilst preserving the given aesthetic details to the maximum possible extent. At the same time, we opted to render the building in question functional, by reinforcing it with all the necessary modern specifications and modifications -plumbing and electrical installations, openings, fireplace etc-, whilst intervening discreetly in the existing structure, in order to ensure that its particular character remains well preserved.

Drawn by a profound respect and absolute admiration for the natural topography of the area, we decided to design and raise a stone masonry wall complex consisting of three independent two-storey residences and a basement, with the intention of creating a space that is closely related to the surrounding natural elements. The building complex consists of one large and two smaller residences. Each of the smaller houses contains all the common areas on the ground floor -living room, kitchen, bathroom- while on the first floor, which communicates with the ground floor through a wooden staircase, there is a bedroom and an additional bathroom. Similarly, the larger residence includes all the common areas on the ground floor, with the only difference being the addition of an extra bedroom, while through the wooden staircase that runs through it, it leads us to the main bedroom and its bathroom located on the first floor. The entire structure has been designed and oriented in such a way as to achieve a subtle integration of the architecture into this stunning landscape. Clad entirely in stone, the three houses project a raw and natural character, strongly anchored to the ground while exuding a sense of serenity and timelessness. This impression of warmth and rusticity is reinforced by the playful tetris-like geometry of the three terraces that allow an uninterrupted observation of the surrounding nature. Sunkissed throughout the day thanks to their orientation, the three houses offer an unobstructed view of the sea stretching from thenorth all the way to the east. The complex is located less than 1km from the beach of Syneti - which is more easily accessible by car - and less than 500 m from the centre of Syneti. Thus, although deliberately decentralized, this stone-walled complex is a retreat at a stone's throw from the bustling centre.
